PARTIZAN // SEPTEMBER 13
Partizan is a musical combo formed in 2001 by Răzvan Moldovan and Artan, founders of the band Timpuri Noi in the early 1980s and friends since their childhood spent in the famous Titan neighborhood of Bucharest.
Mixing social satire with surrealist lyrics and a daring, highly unique sound, Partizan is difficult to categorize within a specific musical style. The members of this group claim to be a post-punk/industrial/rock band, but the audience certainly knows that no concert is like the other.
Although they have only released two albums—Am cu ce (Cat Music, 2002) and București (Cat Music, 2003)—and an EP, Timpuri Noi (Food Hood, 2019), the band enjoys a very active and diverse audience, with representatives of every generation present at their concerts.
Taraf de Caliu // September 14
Taraf de Caliu inherits the energy and mastery of the famous Taraf des Haïdouks, the group of musicians from Clejani who, for over 20 years, have brought the folk music of southern Romania and the lăutărească sound of the Balkans to audiences around the world.
Led by the phenomenal violinist and performer Anghel “Caliu” Gheorghe, this band of musicians from the Giurgiu area is not afraid to mix traditional rhythms with the most contemporary ones, dividing their concerts between lively and ingenious dance segments, moving ballads, and surprising improvisations.
