The Danube Delta represents the area with the greatest cultural diversity in the country, where over 14 ethnic groups coexist, each with different religions and traditions preserved in the villages between the waters. However, the deltaic cultural heritage is rarely highlighted, and tourists who visit the area rarely receive cultural information. This type of tourism puts pressure on the natural heritage (through fishing, visits to lakes and canals, and in strictly protected areas: Letea and Caraorman Forests) and does not support local cultural entrepreneurship.
